"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us... full of grace and truth." (John 1:14-15)

Welcome to Dwell On Truth with Brenten Powers

"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14) Jesus is unique as "the only begotten Son" (John 3:16) in that He is God incarnate who dwelt, or literally, tabernacled among us. Jesus showed us what the Father is like in human form, but he also set an example as the perfect man who obeyed God the Father, love everyone and depended upon the Holy Spirit's power to save and change lives.

So Jesus dwelt on earth as the best example of a missionary. He left the glory and comforts of heaven, came down and dwelt among sinners. Sent with a message of truth and a mission of love to save as many who would believe in him. Jesus obeyed the Father perfectly in life and in death. Taking our place He willingly suffered and died to exchange the curse for the blessing that God wants to give to all - eternal life. Risen from the grave, he overcame the power of sin, death, the devil and hell. He ascended back to the throne in heaven with the name above all names, forever lives to intercede for us as our Advocate, Mediator and Savior, and is subsequently sent his followers out as missionaries.

Having fulfilled his mission God the Father gave him to do, he gave the great commission to his followers who he also called "apostles" or sent ones. "As the Father sent him, so I send you." With all authority, He said "Go, make disciples of the nations" (Matthew 28:19-20) Following Jesus means going when and where he leads you to go and dwelling there to do what he leads you to do. Jesus said "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." His followers learned from Him as students or disciples, and He appointed them to also be apostles (sent ones, messengers). "Go!" make disciples in nations (Matthew 28:19-20) and "Go" preach the gospel to everyone (Mark 16::15) and "whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1Corinthians 10:31). We believe this is the great commission that He is calls all Christians to fulfill. "Go" is not the main verb, as if we are all to be constantly traveling, never settling anywhere, rather it implies, as we go to where He has led us,  do these things there until He leads you somewhere else.

For over 20 years, I have been answering His call to go, dwell, and make disciples by preaching the gospel, worshipping God and teaching the Bible,  By the grace of God, my wife and I have gone from the Monterey Bay, California (where we both grew up) to Austria (where Calvary Chapel Bible College Europe or CCBCE was when we were students), to short term overseas missions (Austria, Germany, Romania, Italy, Germany, Israel, Lithuania) and long term church planting missions (Ukraine and Latvia), to Hungary (where CCBCE was when I was a teacher) and then back to the Monterey Bay area, California U.S.A. We believe we are here not just to live, but to DWELL as Jesus did in the land where he was born, full of grace and truth, dwelling among people who need to hear good news of salvation, and gave opportunities to know, worship and serve the true and living God.

Our prayer is we would be full of the Holy Spirit, His power, love, grace and truth so that we would overflow good things in this season of ministry in order to make a difference in our community. We hope you perceive God's grace and truth through our ministry. We encourage you to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
